A round table that grows when guests arrive

The Pemble solves the oldest small-dining-room problem: you need a 48-inch round for daily life and a 68-inch table for guests, but you only have room for one. Its answer is a hidden internal mechanism – no separate leaves, no leaf closet, no panels leaning against the garage wall. The tabletop itself expands from 48 to 68 inches when guests arrive and contracts back when they leave. Four dine in comfort daily; six to eight fit when it stretches.

Smoked black: formal and grounded at once

Smoked black mindi is the finish that does double duty: dark enough to read formal for dinner parties, grained enough to stay grounded for daily use. Mindi is a fast-growing hardwood in the mahogany family – dense, stable, and beautifully grained – and the smoked finish deepens its natural figure into something almost ebonized. The visible graining across the surface keeps the dark tone from reading flat. This is a table that dresses up without trying.

Best for

Best for smaller dining rooms that host big – apartments, breakfast nooks, and dining areas where a 68-inch table can’t live full-time. The smoked black finish takes brass, boucle, and leather seating. More space-stretching designs among our round dining tables; the full dining tables range beyond.

Frequently asked questions

How does the extension work without leaves?
The mechanism is built into the tabletop – the surface itself expands from 48 to 68 inches. Nothing to fetch, store, or align.

What is mindi wood?
A fast-growing hardwood related to mahogany – dense, stable, and well-grained. It matures quickly, which makes it a sustainable choice as well as a beautiful one.

Is the mechanism reliable?
It’s engineered as part of the table, not an add-on – no loose leaves to warp or misalign over time.

Does smoked black show dust?
Less than flat black – the visible wood graining breaks up the surface. A quick wipe keeps it pristine.
