The ladder back is one of furniture’s oldest good ideas, and the Langley, a coastal sourdough wood dining chair, reworks it in Sourdough with Coastal Glow accents. Modus Furniture keeps the classic horizontal slats, builds the tailored seat for daily comfort, and runs the solid wood frame from legs to back posts. People shopping ladder-back dining chairs usually want the heritage look without Shaker-stark severity; the Coastal Glow accents warm the Sourdough finish just enough to feel coastal rather than colonial.

Why slats beat solid backs in small rooms

At 20 inches wide the Langley fits the standard dining footprint, and the open slatted back is kind to smaller rooms: sightlines pass through it, so a full set of six reads lighter than solid-back chairs would. The tailored seat keeps the sit comfortable in a way antique ladder backs never were.
