Britt Cane Inlay Ebony Dining Chair

Cane is back. This time it’s built to last.

Cane webbing had its 1970s moment and its fragility reputation to match – but the Britt is a different proposition. The natural cane inlay is the visual signature, set against a brushed ebony solid nettlewood frame that gives it backbone the vintage pieces never had. The contrast is the whole design: pale, textural cane against dark, tailored ebony. Retro warmth, modern build.

The Velcro detail that actually matters

Loose dining cushions migrate – everyone who’s chased a sliding seat pad mid-dinner knows it. The Britt’s Savile Flax cushion fastens with Velcro, so it stays put through the meal and lifts off for cleaning. The cushion itself is performance fabric (92% polyester, 8% flax/linen) engineered for spills, stains, and high traffic. At 36.5 inches tall with the cane inlay at eye level, it’s a chair with presence – and at 19.75 inches wide, it still fits six across a 72-inch table.

Best for

Best for dining rooms with retro or eclectic leanings – the cane-and-ebony combination takes rattan, brass, and warm woods as companions. The tall back gives it presence at the head of the table too. More textural seating among the dining chairs.

Frequently asked questions

Is the cane durable?
The inlay is set in a solid nettlewood frame – it’s a visual panel, not a structural seat. It doesn’t bear weight, so it doesn’t wear like vintage cane seats did.

Can I remove the cushion to clean it?
Yes – that’s the point of the Velcro fastening. Lift it off, clean or air it, press it back on.

What is brushed ebony?
A dark, near-black finish on nettlewood with a brushed texture – depth rather than flat black paint.

Does cane suit modern rooms?
Absolutely – the ebony frame keeps it tailored. It reads as textural and warm, not theme-y.
