Astor Barrel Back Dining Chair in Moss and Claystone

The Astor, a modern moss green upholstered dining chair, curves around you: rich Moss legs below, soft Claystone upholstery above. Modus Furniture shapes the sheltering barrel back for an enveloping sit, wraps the seat and back in soft Claystone fabric, and finishes the solid wood legs in deep, organic Moss. The green-and-neutral pairing suits organic modern rooms.

Moss and Claystone Barrel Back Dining Chair

• Collection: Astor by Modus Furniture
• Materials: Solid wood legs with upholstered seat and barrel back
• Upholstery: Claystone, a soft neutral fabric
• Leg finish: Rich Moss
• Dimensions: 22″W x 24″D x 35″H

The 22-inch width is the number that matters: this is a wide, sheltering seat, so allow a little more room per chair along the table side than a standard 20-inch chair takes. In exchange, every diner gets a genuinely enveloping sit, and the slightly lower 35-inch back keeps the chair from looming over the dining table.

A Sheltering Curve for Relaxed Seating

Barrel-back dining chairs sit in a category of their own: the curved back wraps the sitter in a way flat backs cannot, which makes the Astor the chair guests gravitate toward. The Moss and Claystone pairing deepens the appeal, an organic green against a calm neutral that feels like the room’s natural palette.

Best for

Best for comfort-first dining rooms and organic modern palettes. The enveloping barrel back makes the Astor the chair guests gravitate toward, and the Moss-and-Claystone pairing does half the decorating in rooms with natural textures. At 22 inches wide it is a generous sit, so allow a little extra room per chair. A Modus Furniture design at its most enveloping.

Frequently asked questions

Is 22 inches too wide for a dining chair?
It is wider than the standard 20-inch chair. Allow about 26 inches per diner along the table side; in exchange every seat feels genuinely roomy.

Will the Moss green legs limit my table choice?
Moss is a deep organic green that pairs well with wood, white, and stone tables. The Claystone upholstery keeps the overall look neutral.

What makes a barrel back different?
The curved back wraps around the sitter in a way flat backs cannot, giving a sheltered, cocooned feel that suits long dinners.
