79 inches of reclaimed history

New wood is perfect and forgettable; reclaimed pine is neither. The Matthes is solid reclaimed pine in Sierra Rustic Natural – grain, knots, and character that only decades of previous life can write into wood. At 79 inches, it’s a substantial piece with a story in every board, and the rustic natural finish lets that history show rather than sanding it away.

The cantilever trick

The top floats – cantilevered over a slightly angled base – which keeps 79 inches of solid pine feeling light instead of monolithic. It’s the engineering that makes the scale work: the eye reads air under the top, so the piece breathes. At just 15 inches deep, it fits hallways and sofa backs without crowding, styled with lamps, art, or a simple runner. Entryway, living room, dining room – it moves between them all.

Frequently asked questions

Is reclaimed pine durable?
More than new pine – old-growth reclaimed wood is denser and more stable than fast-grown new lumber. The character comes with strength.

Will it look too rustic?
The cantilever design keeps it modern – rustic material, contemporary form. It bridges farmhouse and modern rooms.

What is Sierra Rustic Natural?
Four Hands’ natural finish on reclaimed pine – the wood’s own tones enhanced, not painted over. Warm, varied, honest.

Can it hold a TV?
At 30.75 inches tall and 15 deep, it’s console height – fine for smaller TVs, but it’s designed as a display and serving piece first.
